Every October we celebrate Founder's Day to commemorate the anniversary of the founding of the Boys' Brigade by William Alexander Smith on 4th October 1883, with a parade service attended by all the companies in the Yorkshire County Battalion. This year, 1st Acomb hosted the Founders' Day service at Holy Redeemer Church. We paraded the colours of all the companies of the Battalion through the neighbouring streets before coming into church. The theme for our service was 'Global Fellowship', where we talked about countries in Africa where companies in our Battalion have links - Ghana, Sierra Leone and Kenya. The boys travelled down the aisle of the church on a miniature train, carrying flags of the countries being presented. We had a lovely day sharing faith and fellowship together.
