Founder's Day 2014

Every October we celebrate Founder's Day to commemorate the anniversary of the founding of the Boys' Brigade by William Alexander Smith on 4th October 1883, with a parade service attended by all the companies in the Yorkshire County Battalion. This year, 1st Acomb hosted the Founders' Day service at Holy Redeemer Church.

Battalion Shield

At the annual Founder's Day service our Battalion President, Mike Dixon, announced the winners of this year's Battalion Shield.  This is the prize awarded to the Company that obtains the highest cumulative score for attendance at Battalion events and being placed in the annual uniformed and sports competitions.

Founders Day

On Sunday 6th October we attended the annual founders to celebrate 130 years of BB. Whilst we were there we enjoyed a service with companies from across the battalion as well as marching through the streets of Doncaster to celebrate the founding of BB. After the service we enjoyed ourselves taking part in games and fun activities that everyone thoroughly enjoyed! We look forward to next years founders day being held here, in York at Holy Redeemer!

We went to Airedale to compete in the annual sports competitions, over all we did very well! We came both 2ndplace in the junior team games and the 5-a-side football. We came 3rd place in the Company section 5-a-side, 1st and 3rd place in the company individual cross country and 1st overall in the cross country.
